Chanel Advertisement from Harper's Bazaar
I was reading Nikita's blog, The Fashion Files this evening and she mentioned that she just can't get with the clog trend, and I quote " I hate them. They're clunky, I'm positive they're cankle inducing. They also look like hooves." I have to admit that I wasn't thrilled when I saw them on the spring runways. Not to mention they just remind me of my mom. She's been swearing by clogs all my life...in style or not. Every season there is always at least one trend that I am hesitant to embrace , but they always seem to grow on me soon enough. I remember when leggings first made their way back on the scene. I distinctly remember saying "Seriously, so now I'm supposed wear stretch pants like I'm back in the 2nd grade??? Next thing you know we'll be wearing biker shorts" Now, I don't think a week goes by without "stretch pants" being incorporated into at least one outfit, and just this weekend I was wishing for a pair of black biker shorts to wear under short dress for work. And don't even get me started on Hammer...err ummm... harem pants. Last year, you could not convinced me that I'd ever wear "Hammer Pants," but alas, I am currently on the hunt for the perfect pair of harem pants... who woulda thunk it? Sooooo, its no surprise that I am also lusting for a fabulous pair of clogs to round out my summer wardrobe. Although, I'm thinking more along the lines of a traditional leather clog with a more boho vibe. I'm not sure that I'm feeling the fanciful embellished Chanel clog. Call me crazy, but it's just not doing anything for me.
Here are few ways I envision wearing clogs this summer. There are many variations of clogs this season, so you can ease your way into the trend with an open-open toed, sandal like version...all of my picks are open-toed but they still have the signature wooden clog heel. I'm hoping to change Nikita's mind with at least one of these looks. Did it work, Nikita???
