The Genius of Project Runway

As I sat and watched Christian Siriano's Spring 11 RTW runway show (which has gotten marginal reviews) the genius of Project Runway dawned on me. While the Lagerfelds of the fashion world are exceedingly fabulous, they are equally unaccesible, but the Christian Siriano's of the world...well, we feel like we grew up with him so to speak. Even though, Christian (notice how we feel comfortable calling him by his first name) was fierce long before we met him on season 4 of Project Runway, we can legitimately say that "we were there" when he got his big break. We kind of feel like we took the journey with him (although the journey clearly began long before we came into the picture).  So while the "a certain sector of experienced showgoers might have been shocked by the mob scene at Christian Siriano, " as Meenal Mistry of Style.com put it, we are not, because in our sick, twisted, reality tv polluted  minds, Christian is something like a friend.  The show must go on...we rooted for him, and we need to see the outcome of all our support.  Will he really be as successful as we all thought he would? and this, my friends is the genius of Project Runway. Although the average consumer has no bearing on the fashion trends they'll end up pining for, shows like Project Runway make us feel like we are a part of the inner sanctums of fashion world.  We get to see the design process, we get in the mind of the up and coming designer, we see their rise to fame and we feel like we know them. Very crafty, reality tv producers, very crafty!

Well, I was a die hard Christian fan.  Season 4 was by far my fave season of Project Runway thanks to his fierce-ness...and on that note, I have to say that I am proud of my friend Mr. Siriano. Here are some of my faves from his Spring 2010 RTW Collection, which in my opinion is all very wearable (with the exception of the last two gowns which are pure luxury). I guess I can see where the reviews are coming from, which have all concluded that the collection is nice but unoriginal. But hey, speaking as a regular old consumer, I'm okay with that.  I just wanna see something and think "oooh that's pretty" and I'm happy.  Besides, we all know that in fashion there is nothing new under the sun... it's all been done before at one time or another...

What do you think of Christian Siriano's collection?
Have you been keeping up with fashion week?
What are your fave collections so far?

So, I know you guys are probably thinking to yourselves, "Eboni, the runway show shots are great, but what about the Goofy Pics?" Well, I must confess that working from home has presented a quite the fashion challenge. You see, for the past two days, I worked in yoga pants and a t-shirt. I know, I know...sad! Ive been a 9 to 5er for many, many years now, but alas, it seems that I will need to find new ways to motivate myself to get up and get dressed because sitting a room by myself in front of the computer is not doing it! Of course, if Fab and I decide to go out somewhere after work, I get dressed, but that is not going to be an everyday occurrence and it's not like I am out running errands on my one hour lunch break every day either. Hmmmm, well it seems to me that the inspiration will need to come from within.  Anyway, I did snap some pictures last night and those will be coming up soon!

Thanks for stopping by!!!
