Every magazine you pick up these days is raving about the side braid...Alexander Wang debuted the the easy going "i don't care about my hair, but I do" look on the runway and it quickly took on a life of its own on the red carpet! We've seen all our favorite celebrities rockin the side braid this spring... Selena Gomez, Jessica Alba, Thandie Newton, Leona Lewis, Lauren Conrad, Kate Bosworth, and the list goes on and on...
But its not only the side braid... Braids of any kind are all the rage this season. Crown braids, partial braids, braids into a bun, braided hand bands. Braids, braids, braids...
Okay, so in all honesty, I'm black so braids are nothing new to me! Growing up I wore every braid style imaginable, but in my adult life I've traded my braids in for flatirons, pin curls, and diffusers. Nonetheless, this fresh (not necessarily new) take on my old favorite hairstyle made me want to revisit my old friend...The Braid... This morning, in a rush and running late for work, I swept my just washed, curly wet hair to the side and into a lose french braid... I pulled out a few curly tendrils and...Viola!
So, here is my take on the side braid...
