Being Trendy is an Expensive Habit...

This is my magazine collection...

Okay, I'll be honest.  This is part of my magazine collection.  I have another stack by my bed.  I subscribe to In Style, Harper's Bazaar, People Style Watch, Vogue, and Marie Claire, and of course, anytime I see someone I like on the cover of a magazine I don't subscribe to, I snag it too.  These magazines are my very own fashion archives!  I scour them, rip out pages, and I used to even tack my fave outfits to my bedroom wall.  The problem?  They feed my already dangerous appetite for shopping!!!

Well, the seasons are changing and Spring has sprung, so its time to pack away my fave fall fashions, and slip into those breezy sun dresses, short shorts, chunky wedges, and strappy sandals.  As early as March, every fashion magazine debuted Spring's hottest trends. So my goal is to step into Spring without going broke!  and here's how I plan to do it...
  1. Many of last season's trends (and many season's past) are being carried forward into Spring '10...Who says I can't just rework what's already in my closet? The retailers I suppose...
  2. Updating your look for the new season is as much about beauty (fresh  makeup, updated hairstyle, and a good tan!  okay, maybe that last one is just me!)
  3. Sometimes a few good staple accessories is all you need...one good pair of signature "wear with everything" summer sandals, an inexpensive trendy new purse, or some trendy "cheap and chic" new jewelry (places like Forever 21 have lots)..
  4. and when all else fails... BARGAIN HUNT! You can always find great deals for any season at Nordstrom Rack, Loehmann's, Forever 21, H&M, DSW, and of course TARGET...and don't forget thrift shops!  Speaking of bargain hunting, check out The Look 4 Less blog!  It's one of my faves, and I read it faithfully!
  5. DIY (Do It Yourself) Fashion. I stumbled across this AMAZING blog recommendation for Love Meagan on The Look 4 Less blog.  The author Meagan gives FABULOUS and easy tips for re-creating your favorite designer from scratch.  I'm talking about plain white t-shirt transformed into designer t-shirt straight out of a magazine...Check it out!

So there it goes! Wish me luck...
